The Seven-Level Strength Classification: Moderately Strong, Overly Strong, Extreme Strong, Balanced, Moderately Weak, Overly Weak, Extreme Weak

The Seven-Level Strength Scale

Strong isn't the same as Overly Strong — there are two whole levels between them

The Day Master's Strength isn't binary. Most failed readings trace back to misidentifying the level. In practice, Strength operates on a seven-level scale: Extreme Weak → Overly Weak → Moderately Weak → Balanced → Moderately Strong → Overly Strong → Extreme Strong. Moderately Weak and Overly Weak are worlds apart — Moderately Weak can still be supported with a light touch; Overly Weak can't be supported at all and must follow (cóng gé, 从格 path). Moderately Strong and Overly Strong are equally distant — Moderately Strong can be controlled or drained; Overly Strong can only be drained, never controlled (control triggers fury). Get the level wrong and every subsequent yongshen decision is wrong. The core metric: Day Master force vs. total drain/control force across the chart.

1. Moderately Weak and Moderately Strong — the common moderate deviations

2. Overly Weak and Overly Strong — the critical zone where strategy flips

3. Extreme Weak and Extreme Strong — the pattern-level extremes

4. The Balanced zone — the most flexible and the most deceptive

Practical Execution

First thing on any new chart: place it on the scale: Step one: check whether the Day Master has root — how many, what grade. Step two: tally the drain/control Five Element ratio across the chart. Step three: place on the seven-level scale. The level you pick determines every strategy downstream. Wrong level = wrong everything.

Level shifts with luck cycles — re-grade accordingly: A Moderately Weak person in a Resource/Companion cycle can become Moderately Strong or even Overly Strong. The season of level shift is the season of strategy adjustment. Re-grade at the start of every new luck cycle.

Follow-up Questions

Balanced is indeed the most flexible — you don't urgently need support or suppression, and the cycle tips you whichever way it leans. But Balanced people get pulled in both directions easily — when making choices, both paths look viable, which can cause more indecision than clarity. Balanced isn't 'best destiny' — it's 'widest range of choice.'

Borderline cases exist constantly. When a chart sits between Moderately Weak and Overly Weak, check the luck cycle direction. Consecutive support cycles = treat as Moderately Weak. Consecutive control cycles = treat as Overly Weak. The cycle tips the borderline.
